So I'm not really a huge Crysis fan. I never played the first one, I didn't even know about it until Crysis 2 started making the news. I did get a chance to play the multiplayer beta for that game and did enjoy myself in it, but I never did pick up the full game. But now I am really considering picking up Crysis 3 when it releases, the single player looks fun enough and the multiplayer is actually very entertaining!
The Crysis 3 multiplayer is a perfect mix between Call of Duty and Halo. Its got the very fast pace of COD and the realistic weapons, mixed with futuristic elements like the nanosuit and its abilities. This makes for a very exciting gameplay experience.
There are two modes available in the beta, crash site and hunter. Crash site is a basic capture and hold for points to win mode. While hunter is a intense mode that involves two players starting out in a nanosuit and hunting the other ten players. If you get killed you turn into a hunter and have to kill the remaining players. They are both fun modes that fit comfortably in the game.
Ranking up in the game seems like it will be easy enough. In the beta you only get to go to level 10 out of 50 and it takes a solid amount of time to get through just those 10 levels. Hopefully the level cap can increase with future DLC.
The only problem I have is the gun selection. There are only a hand full of guns in the beta, which is okay, but even in Crysis 2, there were only a dozen or so guns. This is pretty disappointing when Call of Duty has 40+ guns in their games. I also hope more guns can be purchased through future DLC.
One thing I really liked about this beta is the two maps that are available. An airport map over run by nature and old ruins. The air port map is very horizontal, while the ruin map is vertical. They both offer different experiences and make you change the way you play the game, which is a hard thing to do in games like these.
Lastly, this game looks beautiful. The Cryengine makes this game look stunning. Everything from environments to character models looks fantastic and they will only look better once the full game comes out.
So after putting half a dozen hours into playing the Crysis 3 beta, I am very excited for the final product and cant wait to jump into the mulitplayer. Hopefully this game can keep a solid amount of players playing and the game keeps getting support from the developers after release.
Final Score: 8.9
